Matt Moncrieff
Matt Moncrieff is a Ngoonooru-Wajarri Yamatji writer, cook, bushfood advocate, and television personality from Gwoonwardu (Carnarvon), Western Australia.
He gained national recognition as the first Indigenous contestant on Channel 7’s My Kitchen Rules, where he reached the semi-finals. His appearance not only showcased his culinary skills but also highlighted his passion for integrating native Australian cuisine into mainstream culture, challenging supermarkets to embrace diversity and authenticity.
In 2023, Matt was honoured at the Aboriginal Economic Development Forum in Darwin with the ‘Excellence in Bushfoods and Botanicals Services’ award, recognising his dedication to promoting culture and native foods.
Beyond cooking, Matt has launched a distinctive collection of native Australian scented candles that celebrate the beauty and unique aromas of indigenous botanicals. He has collaborated with Journey Beyond Rail to create a range inspired by the native flora along their iconic rail journeys - the Indian Pacific, the Ghan, the Great Southern, and the Overland.
As a member of various professional associations, Matt shares his expertise across the country, educating corporations and industry about the potential of native foods and the opportunities for First Nations communities in the renewable energy transition.
Partnering with Matt means engaging with a commitment to quality, cultural authenticity, and a transformative experience that highlights Australia’s unique heritage.
